Located in Charlestown, Massachusetts, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital is one of only a few hospitals named as a Model System for the treatment of spinal cord injuries. Patients get exceptional care that challenges and builds upon their physical capabilities, including 3-5 hours of physical therapy five days per week for inpatients. Spaulding's ventilator program works with patients to help them breathe on their own. Patients can expect significant family involvement, as well as an emphasis on “living beyond boundaries.” Spaulding endeavors to help each patient live as independently as possible, and this goal includes a dedicated vocational training program.
