Introducing SCI Blogger Jeff Kinney

Meet Jeff Kinney, a journalist and former attorney with spina bifida. We have gotten to know Jeff through his blog and some conversations about how to best serve the SCI community. Check out his blog, Thrive With Paralysis, there he puts his journalism skills to use by seeking out and providing readers with expert advice about how to live your best life in spite of any disabilities.

Three times a week, his blog features intriguing articles with helpful information and tips in the areas of health, recreation, relationships and life skills, and news, science, and technology. For example, look for:

Occasionally he will also relate the experiences of individuals he meets who have managed to overcome major obstacles and achieve significant goals. These are not typical "inspirational stories" about people with disabilities. Instead, they offer practical advice from those who've accomplished something that you might want to accomplish as well. Everyone can learn from each other, and as long time readers know we always want to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and resources.

Getting to know Jeff provides insight into his unique perspective:  Outside of his job as an editor at a major news organization, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He also has a passion for outdoor activities and adaptive sports like handcycling, scuba diving, kayaking, camping, hiking, and traveling – he tells us these activities help to push his limits

I hope you will take the time to check out his blog, we believe the community can (and will) benefit from the information and personal stories he shares. As Jeff told us “(He) truly believe it's possible for all of us to thrive, however we define that.” Hopefully this blog will play a small role in helping you.
